NEWSLETTER END YEAR 2018

End of Year Newsletter – June 2018

This has been another busy year in Ballinlough N.S.  Here are some of the events and activities that took place this year.

SPORT

At Ballinlough N.S. we took part in swimming , football and  rugby lessons, Cumann na mBunscoil football games (our girls football team even reached the final in Páirc Táilteann.) and the FAI Soccer Blitz.   We had a cycling workshop for 5th and 6th class. We had our Sports Day on the 18th June which was lots of fun. 

AWARDS

  • Fifth green flag for biodiversity
  • Pride of place Gardening level 4 of 5
  • Year 3 of Gaelbhratach programme
  • Health Promotion year 2.
  • Our teachers won the Ballinlough Lip Sync!

TRIPS

We visited Loughcrew, historic tour of Kells, The Crystal Maze, Killinkere farm, and Zipit

EVENTS/VISITS

  • Goska taught us all about Biodiversity
  • Paula O Connor talked to us about Cyberbullying and keeping safe online
  • Sarah from RSA visited us to teach us about Road Safety
  • Robin Barry taught us about bees , minibeasts and wildlife

MUSIC

  • Our Christmas concert took place in December and each class got the chance to take part.
  • We learned lots of new songs and tunes and performed at the First Penance and First Communion Mass

 GARDENING

 This year we worked hard on our school garden.  We grew lettuce, cabbage, onions, parsnips, carrots, radish, cauliflower, potatoes, broad beans and sugar snap peas.

FUNDRAISING

We held a sponsored walk for our school and we raised money for Down’s Syndrome Ireland with the Ice Cream Party hosted by Daisy

 -         We purchased new resources, furniture, programmes for the Learning Support room

-         We installed new doors for the classrooms

-         We purchased new readers for the Infant room

My best memory is getting to the gaelic football final with my team, school tours and spending a great 8 years with my class. I have had a great time at Ballinlough NS and will miss it so much.

Ashling

My best memories are meeting my best friends and after the football final having pizza.

Ellen

My best memories of Ballinlough NS are making best friends, all the sports activities, concerts and tours. I have had fun with my class and will be very sad to leave

Áine

My favourite memories of Ballinlough are making friends, getting to know all the teachers because they are all so helpful and nice and I will be sad leaving.

Sarah

My best memories of Ballinlough NS are , sports days, school tours, making friends and I will be very sad to leave

Grace: My best memories are the football matches and all the funny times. I have so many memories I will never forget

Ciaran::My best memory of Ballinlough NS was going on the bus with my friends

Liam: My favourite memory was the football tournament.

A special thank you to all the people who gave us such support this year.  You the parents, our Parents Association who gave up their time so generously, Pauric White, Treasa Galligan for coaching us, Harry Long our music tutor

As another school year draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for supporting us in so many different ways this year.  It is great to see a strong sense of partnership within the school community.  As you can see our pupils have participated in a range of activities.  We are very proud of their achievements this year. I would also like to wish our 6th class pupils well in their journey to Secondary School. I am sure they will do us proud and have bright futures ahead of them. Also to our staff who have worked diligently all year and always with the best interests of the pupils
