SOCCER TOURNAMENT

Break times have become a lot more active and fun thanks to Mr. Finnegan. Once again he has organised a soccer tournament that includes all children from 3rd to 6th Classes, with 2nd class pupils as subs in the event of older pupils out sick ( nobody wants to be out sick and miss their games however) Games have started with great enthusiam and commitment to win. This fantastic initiative will take several weeks to complete with it culmanating in a final game to crown the winning team. Let the battle commence....

Updates and pictures to follow as more games are played...

SPRING GARDENING

The hard work has started in our school garden as we get ready for this years Schools Pride of Place. The spuds have been planted in the poly tunnel. Seeds have temporarily been planted in small pots, they will be transferred into the beds at later stage when more mature. Two Mountain Ash trees have been planted near our Bug Hotel. Students are well used to bringing in their wellies ready for some digging, planting and general maintainance of our school grounds. We hope to add some new scarecrows and wind chimes this year. Let the hard work continue...

5th GREEN FLAG

A massive congratulations to Mrs Sherwin and her Green Schools Committee. Due to their hard work our school has been awarded our 5th Green Flag Biodiversity !!

As a whole school we are immensley proud to have our 5th Green Flag. We have learned so much about Biodiversity and its impact, not just what we can change at school but in our wider community. Guest speakers have educated us as to the importance of every growing and living thing around us. Our committee has been hands on reminding us to recycle correctly, look after our birds and insects and to maintain a healthy welcoming garden for us humans and all our creatures to enjoy and thrive.

We hope to raise our Flag soon. Well done to all involved.

AISTEAR

In our Infant room AISTEAR is up and runnning. Children get great benifit from this lesson. They can be creative and self expressive when challenged with everyday senarios. Maybe they will be constructing mini towns using old cardborad boxes, sand or 2D shapes. Or possibly dressing up as doctors, chefs, even teachers to "make believe" real life situations. We are always amazed to see children working together to achieve a challenge which they themselves chose.  This creativity, confidence and self expression will go on to develope their minds and comprehension in many areas.

MATHS IS FUN

Maths is fun ! Thats what our Inants say. Mrs Sherwin's Maths lessons are always creative and fun. Pupils will use resourses from all around the class to enforse their capacity to understand math. We are seeing great results with this hands on learning. Pupils are more confident and relaxed in these lessons, and understand that being open to a new approach is enhancing their Math capacity.

Meath Cumann Na mBunscoil 2018

In March this year I was proud to have been picked to represent my school in The 20 Meath Cumann Na mBunscoil half time game between Meath vs Cork. The event was held in Pairc Tailteann and I played in half forward position. I was delighted that I managed to score 2 goals and my team went on to win the game. It was a great experience and I had a great day.
